I need help w/ these snails. I collected them in a brackish gulf of mexico estuary in florida. I have them in my 55 fowlr. The two are similar in shape but one is patterned. their shells are about 3/4", tip to tip. Not really worried about exact species but i want to know if they will harm my zoas in my 6g nano. Note that in the second pic, the snail in question is stuck on a larger hermit shell.

No one seems to want to comment. Don't know if its that they don't know, or if it's the fact that you collected them yourself.

Yeah, I've been running circles getting ready for a bowfishing tournament this evening, sorry. They are Stramonita haemastoma floridana, or Florida Rock Shells. They are muricids, and will drill other snails or clams and eat them. They won't eat your zoas, and won't harm them unless they get to crawling across them a lot, I suppose.

    Cheers,
