Hey guys this is not a emergency just a question. I went to south point in Miami beach Fl and saw a bunch of snails in the water. Considering the price of snails at a LFS can I snatch some up and put it in my QT tank and then pass it to my display? Thanks in advance. 8)

I would be reluctant to just grab some snails from the beach, I would do some research first and find out which might be reef safe and check local bylaws if you can just take them. The other problem with taking snails from the wild is parasites, the most common one in snails which could pass to your fish is black spot for which there is no quick cure.

Considering snails are usually quite cheap, I would stick to ones from your LFS.

Legally, you just need to be a resident and have a state fishing license.

As for everything else..... I would probably do it, IF I had a quarantine tank, and could medicate, and IF I could identify the snail.

something to think about what are the water temp there in the winter months and then think about what your tank temp is year round. Your tank might be to warm for them. JMT's
