Reef cleaners and my BRS orders came in bout an hr ago. Cuc is already in the tank. Calibrated my refract. and my water is sittin right at 1.026. Happy about that! Also i mixed up some kalk. Its my first time using so im starting out small. really small. I use the baseline ive been hearing to start with 1 teaspoon per 5 gallons of RODI. Im using 1/8 teaspoon per 1 gallon. ill adjust as needed. Interested in seeing what happens!! Hopefully my chemi pure elite will get here tomorrow! or sometimes soon im tired of this cyano. lol

bulb is a 15w cfl that looks like a flood. says 65 watts replacement. Its a 6500K bulb. Its attached with a wally world clamp light, nothing special. Taped a piece of cardboard with reflective tape. its aluminum tape so it should be good stuff. foam is from micky dees sweet tea. simple yet effective.
    Hope that this works!

Btw i cant get over how dumb i was for not getting a refractometer from day one... what was i thinking. I feel like i just got allstate insurance or something... get it; im in good hands now... ::) lol. srry im sorta out there :smokin: but seriously when i held it i was surprised how heavy duty it is. I cant believe i relied on a swing arm hydrometer it seems so fragile and barbaric. lol Time to shoot it at 100 yards with the remington 700 ;D love excuses to shoot old stuff.

This thing is so hardy i dropped it in the tank right on a head and it recovered fine. To think it stared off as one head back in July... only 4 months of growth and its a monster lol. I love it tho.

Not sure, why it closes up, I always assumed it was just an instinctual reaction for when it felt threatened or stressed. Mine do that periodically as well, but I don't think it means anything. It sure looks happy in the 'open' pic.

I love these guys as well, they are always a crowd pleaser when I have visitors.

Glad you are liking the refractometer...I need to get one myself. How far off was your hydrometer compared to the refractometer?

Thanks. I love mine as well. Its a nice piece. I didnt think it meant anything, i was assuming that it maybe meant it was growing? idk

Im not even sure i guess ill check that here in a few minutes.
I recommend getting one man, they are so easy. You only use like 3 drops of water vs like idk couple mL of water with the hydro. its accurate and its small.

Ok so i still would like an answer pertaining to my xenia.. any takers? Also i just started using chemi pure elite and ive noticed there are many small bubbles on the cyano. Whats happening? is it dieing off or something? it says on the back promotes aerobic bacterial growth and nitrification... is that whats happning?

the xenia is just opening (daytime and closes at night, totally normal, sorta like zoas in that way.The cyano bubbles is just trapped nitrogen that is released from the sandbed, also normal.Shorten your light period and lowering nutients are the way to fight cyano (feed less, start running or change your gfo and carbon, water changes with ro/di,etc.,and adding more flow can help also_Otherwise the tank looks good.
