As far as the xenia goes the don't like ph fluctuations. So if you just started does kalk that will change your ph-how much I don't know,I've never used it.Now for the cyano grinder hit it right on the head. The chemipure will help but it takes time-it is not an overnight fix.If you want to see instant results get a tiger sand conch.I know you won't believe it unless you try it.They WILL eat that right off your sand as well as detritus and algaes. They will only eat it off the sand unless they are small. When they get larger they can't support their own weight on a vertical surface. It has to be a tiger sand conch.Other conchs will not eat it.Good luck.

Thats what im thinking.. I may have over thought it too much. I could just be how it sleeps lol. But its healthy ill let it do that all it wants.

dont stress yourself unless you see deterioration etc...im assuming xenia have specific photo periods and dont like more than x many hours of light etc

Can cyano benefit from more lighting? i know the reduction of photoperiod will help, but can extending as well?

Nah... I believe extending the lighting will only make your cyano problem worse man... You may actually benefit from keeping the light off for a day or two... Dont quote me on that because I am newer to the hobby... But a fellow 3reefer had horrible cyano in his refug. he turn his light off and it helped a lot... another thing is when you do a water change siphon the cyano off the surface of the sand... If I comes back then you know ur phosphate is still brewing in the tank...

Yeah i was 99% sure that would be the case, but you never know... there mighta been some legitimacy in it. I blacked out my tank once before to help rid GHA and it does work. I just don't want to last time i did it my palys didn't like it too well... but idk hopefully my weekly wc and chemi pure elite and new cuc will help me out.
