Began this morning with a water test of the sump and it failed miserably. I re siliconed it so im gonna have to wait till tomorrow to finalize the plumbing.

Note to self. Next time using silicone don't just cut the top off and put it in the gun. I did that and it just oozed out the back. All yesterday I basically siliconed the entire sump finger painting style. Lmao. But i was thinking today and poked a hole in the seal at the top that made it work like it was supposed to... man i feel like an idiot.

Any way If it stops raining Im gonna stain, paint, and seal the stand. Not much more can be done till this sump cures.

I let mine cure for a week before using it. You should give it 2 or 3 days at least with the thickness used to hold the baffles.

Thanks bud. I will do that. I didnt really silicone it that well yesterday, i did it just to hold it in place so that today i could get a nice consistent seal along the edges. And the water test showed where i should concentrate more. Im gonna let it cure till tomrrow. Ill test it again and again till all compartments are sealed. then ill set it aside to cure for a week like you said.

That happened not by choice mind you. But it seems like a good plan. haha

Well i waited 12 hrs for the silicone to cure some and i did a quick leak test... and it failed again... im 0 for 2 right now. This is frustrating. lol the leaks are small but they are there. Dangit! im gonna have to buy new silicone tomorrow and try to patch it up once more.

till then this build is at a stand still. It doesnt seem that hard to just silicone a baffle, but this is turning out to be more of a pia than expected.

Just finished going HAM on my fuge side with the rest of the silicone i had. Im gonna have to get a new tube tomorrow. Hopefully 3rd times a charm and everything is sealed properly. The paint on the back glass has dried, and i snapped a pic of what the tanks going to look like, minus the wood on the bottom, that will be black here soon. Its a tease... i want water!!!
Dont mind the pump in the picture, its an air matress pump. It works well as a stand in for the real pump for pictures lol.

Looking good. One thing to consider with the silicone leaking. Once its cured, silicone won't bond to it self. By layering new onto already cured, it my not be making a good seal. I know it sounds like a PITA, but you might be better off in the long run by scraping off what's there and starting over.

Yeah ive noticed that its not a great bond at all. But i try and make sure that there is silicone contacting glass and acrylic where it needs to be. Im not afraid to rip it all up with a razor. Itll be messy but if thats what must be done then i gotta do it. Thanks man!
