The mystery grows... literally. this is within hours of the last photo, with the lights out.
i turned em on to show yall.

it has brownish parts to it, but most of the composition is clear opaque.

Whatever it is, its growing and quickly. Im going to leave it be obviously. just want to document this as its new to me, and interesting.

My guess is thats the rocks way of handling all the plastic (silica) in the system. I have my baffles, skimmer, return lines, and all that it is probably trying to rid... but thats just my guess.

your telling me nobody has seen this before? if so ill call my local university and get my name associated with this new species if thats the case. but im pretty sure someone out there knows.

cmon guys i try to update things on one thread, this one. I dont want to clutter up the boards with every question i have, which i usually find my own answer before asking. I had john and igntar's and mattias' advice, i see a lot more ppl on here. I would like to know what im dealing with, my research has come up empty.

    Thanks.

Ok, did some searching around an ive found two things it might be, either digitate hydroids or very small worms. Is it spiderweb like?

I looked up the hydroids and its not them. It looks like a mucus membrane, with some diatom type stuff intermingled. Some are like webs you could say, but there mostly like strands that twist with others nearby.

Im not sure what they could be... lol but i do appreciate the help. im stumped still.

I guess i will never know, if i had a microscope. i could look at the actual structure. but i think is a dinoflagellate. i mean it does "whip" like the flagellum of the name describes lol.

I think ive settled on putting a Kohl Tang, and a school of chromis in the tank and ill be done, as far as fish are concerned. Maybe a blenny in the mix, but that be WAY down the road.

    1-maroon clown
    1-yellow goby
    1-Pink striped wrasse
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
    all from my 20 gallon
1-kohl tang (small as i can get)
    5- chromis.

I think 5 would be best, i would do 3 but idk 5 little guys would be a good number to begin i think. they are best kept in odd numbers correct?

Im also assuming my clown is female. I hear if shes a lone wolf, then itll become female. if i could get her/him a mate, that be tight. love hitched up fish! if i could id a male, or that mine is female that would seal up the list.

I want to have cleaner and banded shrimp too.

Corals, im holding off for until i upgrade my lights, to what?... idk yet. but sps will be in here, cuz im still a virgin to em lol.

Thats correct about the chromis, atleast from wht ive heared lol. If you do get the maroon clown a male, do it when you add the female maroon to the 75, that way theyre in the new territory together at the same time to lessen aggression. Awesome stock list man! For lighting... Led would be sweet.... AI sol.... But thats alot of cha ching!$$$
