    Hey guys,

So I bought a snowflake eel a yesterday. I placed it in my tank, saw it yesterday as it poked its head out of the rocks and appeared to be breathing a little heavy.

Water parameters are the best it has been in months.

Is there any way I can entice my eel to come out, I imagine I would be better off attempting to feed it at night? Any suggestions on how to feed?

Will it come out when it is hungry or should I place food in the tank to entice it out through smell

    Thanks again :)

Mine swam out for food after it was in there for along time. It may hide quite a bit until it finds a place it wants to call home. Best way is like you said at night, Krill or Silversides were my food of choice.

I would just put in a offer of food and see if get any interest. Maybe just leave it in over night see if takes it. Take out in morning, if possible. Clip to algae clip on glass down lower maybe.

Mine gladly never did that but yes, they definitely can just up and one day decide not to eat.

Give it time. He will get hungry and come out. I have a skeletor moray, not a snowflake but I think they are pretty similar. The first few days he just hid in the cave he made, now he is out anytime I come near the tank, especially when I feed his tankmates. I would wait another few days before leaving any food out overnight, I think he will come around. Make sure you have a top on your tank, those eels are escape artists! My old snowflake was great at jumping into my overflow, thru the intake tube, out of my filter sock, then swim in my sump!

Thanks all for the help. Things are going well, the snowflake was eating some krill today and prior to this he was scouting about. He almost attacked one of my bristle worms which popped its head out to get some food hah

How often should you feed them? I was told 2-3 times a week but how much? I have been giving it little 1cm krill to eat. The eel is only about 20-25 cms long

Also noticed some unusual behaviour with the coral beauty and the eel...They are like rubbing on each other and swimming nearby
