im not to experienced with eels so i could use some help. theres a new kid at a lfs and he sold me a 5 inch baby snowflake eel. im setting up a new tank and he said i could put him in during the cycle and he would pull through no problem. hes in a critter tote in another tank with afew small pieces of LR. i was just going to leave him there till the cycles over but he said he would be fine as long as i feed him every 2-3 days. is this true?

Hell no. Thats some bad advice as far as i'm concerned, wait till the cycles over before adding the eel. :)

I agree with hender. You spent too much on the eel to use it during a cycle. Besides I don't think they are hardy enough to survive a cycle.

Well the sometimes they will say anything to make a sale. I'd find another lfs after that. No fish or eel should be stressed through that. Well unless its a damsel lol

I've never heard of using an eel to cycle with, they are considered easy to care for but no reference to them being hardy enough to cycle a tank and live.

LOL, I type way too slow!
