Snowflake eel taking Anemone Food

How can I stop my snowflake eel from taking the food from my anemone? Please don't say by feeding him before I feed the anemone, because I do. He never seems to be full. I feed him around 2-3 big pieces of krill a day, and he even takes some of the mysis shrip and brine shrimp when feeding that to other fish. I have attached a movie of my eel taking it right out of the hands of the anemone. You can see when he gets stong but doesn't do anything to him lol.

Few tricks you can do. First try chopping the food up to create smaller pieces so the eel can't grab it so easily out of the anemone's tenticles. Second cut a top out of a two litter bottle to cover the anemone when you feed it for a very short amount of time. Don't leave it on to long b/c it may upset him. HTH

 

The two liter bottle things prty smart you should get a patent on that However I don't know how easily it could be done as its circumference is probably bigger then a two liter bottle and it it lodges in some rocks.

Your better off chopping the food up into very small pieces, The reason why i posted here was to let you know that until you have seen your eel eat a 3" gobie you really don't grasp the extent to which they can squeeze a meal in.

My advice is to try shrimp meat and give him something the size of his head, that will keep him occupied for a while, and never feed him around little fish cause when there is food they are crazy and don't distinguish between meal and prison mate.

My one is about the thickness of my thumb and i have had him for only a year since it was ohh so little.

 

Yeah, I usually feed him 3 or so krill every other day they are about 1inch or a little bigger in size each. I have never seen him chase any of my fish, however, he chases the thing feeding him He is defiantly one of the bigger ones i have ever seen. Like you said mines about the thickness of my thumb a little bigger. I will just have to watch and make sure he doesn't go for it and if he does try to move him away from it.
