    Thanks alot for the advise and resoures, it gave me the idea to get a different test kit and give it a try. After testing with my new alkalinity test it is reading about 4meg/l. Ph still 8.2-8.4 and calcium still low at about 260. Should I still try to slowly bring up my calcium?? Maybe just use the calcium side of Calxmax?

    Thanks Fletch I was unaware of that. I havn't read the article yet but I will. From what I was told be my LFS is that Mag isn't that important. In fact he said its not really necessary to check it. I will tend to disagree with that but for the most part they are extremely knowledgeable.

    Watson, From what Fletch said, I would suggest getting a Mag test kit. Your Alk seems to be good so if you are still adding Ca and your level isn't going up there is another problem.

    You may also want to take a water sample to your LFS and have them test for Ca, Alk, and Mag. Your Ca test kit may have a problem
