so today is day one of my 125 gallon tank. i got this tank from my uncle who has had it forever. he used it as a fresh water tank and has been empty for a couple years now now, so i decided to ask for it and he called me and said come get it. so the magic begins..

what i have. all i got was the tank witch you can see is very dirty..

and stand that needs some work. im going to go to home depot tonight after work to get some stuff.

the plan. today if i have time i plan too to clean tank. going to use some hot water and bleach and clean it good.. also going to get some glass silicon and seal anything that looks iffy.. i know for a fact it has no leaks. but still lot of water to spill in my apartment... also going to try and clean up tank a bit. maybe i can stain it all black, also new doors but i dunno ill save that for another day. i do plan on paint the back of the tank black as well. so ill pick up a can of flat black spray paint and do that.

also for today going to get on local CL and start picking up pieces for this tank. i cant afford everything brand new so i will and try and save where i can.. a good deal is a good deal..

Stuff i belive i need! for a most awsome reef/lagoon lol( and please let me know if im missing something or need something as well)

    1. Sump
    2. Protien skimmer
    3. Over flow
    4. return pipes
    5. pump for the return
    6. Fuge ( not sure on how that works if anyone could go in to detail)
    7. pumps that go on inside of tank for water flow.. ( not sure here either )
    8. heaters
    9. thermo stat
9.1 auto top off for tank.
    10. ummm...
    11. black sand a whole lot.
    12. dry base rock a whole lot (have a great plan for this wait till you see kinda my mian focus!)
    13. some sort of lighting fixture.. dont know yet...

so these are the things i belive need to get this puppy up and running hopfully i can get this all in a timely manner but i will be taking my time.. so yea this it so tell me what to do where to go lol

Congrats on your start. I would recommend white vinegar from the dollar store to clean your tank. IMHO it will do a better job. I filled my tank up in my garage and added a few bottles of vinegar and a power head for a couple days. It wiped clean with no ill effects.

    Welcome to 3reef.

Congrats on the new tank, Reefbruh's cleaning method is a great idea. You can soften/remove deposits, leak test and since it was a FW tank buy yourself a copper test kit and test the water to see if any copper was used in the tank.

I don't have a drill. Would give it a shot depending on how hard lol but not really if I had to buy a glass drill or could I use a normal drill with different tip
