I have used a canister filter for a very long time. Has worked ok, but now my corals/system are getting more involved. Decided I really need to go the right way. I will be setting up a proflex with fuge and skimmer. Little nevous about doing it right and not detroying anything in my tank. Any advise????

    Plan, Plan, Plan.

Ensure all equipment/plumbing is going to fit before you install.

Also it is convenient that you already have a canister filter as you can run this until your sump is up and running. There will be no down time.

Are you going with a HOB type overflow? Are you drilling? Some other method? I am assuming you have selected all of your equipment already? And you have ensured that there is enough room in you sump for the skimmer you are looking at? Are you doing internal or external pump? Need enough room either way.

With enough planning, forethought and questions on this forum - you can anticipate a smooth upgrade.

Measure, remeasure, check, remeasure, check again.

How big is your tank? Which Proflex did you go with? When I upgraded from a HOB to the Proflex with my 29, all the animals sat in a big Rubbermaid container for about 36 hours. In that period, Ive drilled, hooked it up, tested for leaks, made adjustments etc.. But! it was well worth it!

Here is the link to the upgrade thread.

    Fuge planning disaster

Got the Proflex. Can probably get it thru the back, but not sure. Really don't want to move my tank around. It will fit, but my stand is posing problems. Skimmer too big for in sump with the pump. If I can get it in there, will have to go to HOB version. Any suggestions on this mess??????
Your advise "Measure, remeasure, check, remeasure, check again" is dead on. My inexperience with this whole thing is discouraging!!
