I added a High Fin Goby (about 1.5") and a snapping shrimp (about .75") on Saturday. I have been searching for them during feeding and have not seen them once. I can not even find the burrow I suspect they are in. My tank is only a 65g...I would have thought I would have found them by now :(

I have 2 Hi Fin gobies in my set up
I see them every day now, mostly at feeding time when they come of the sand bed to intercept frozen foods

I see them occasionally if I look at their known hiding spots - one of mine sits in the shade of a Wellso on the sand bed, but bolts into a gap in the rock when I move to quickly

I did not see either of them for about 2 weeks upon 1st introduction
and like you I assumed the worst

so give them a few more days and they may very well show up for you
they do gain in confidence, but even so, they are still a shy species IME

That is good to hear. I guess I was just expecting him to be more like my yellow watchmen. From day one he always at least had his head out and is not afraid to cruise pretty far out of his burrow. He will even swim up and grab food out of the water column.

I just want to see what my new fish looks like!...lol

My snapping shrimp was friendly enough to make his main burrow on the back side of the rocks, so I very rarely see him. He lets us now he is still around from time to time by 'snapping'.

I had my Hi Fin disappear for months at a time. The last time it disappeared, it was for about 3 months.

I got a pistol shrimp about 2 weeks ago. He lives in a rock and I have seen him for about 5 seconds total.

I had two flasher wrasse for the longest time and one day I noticed one was missing. I couldn't find it anywhere. After a day or so, I gave up on finding it, guessing it was dead. Two weeks later, I went to feed the tank and it popped out of the rocks like it had been there the whole time! I guess it had a really good hiding spot and only came out at night.

I had a firefish go MIA on me for about a 3 week timespan I think, and then he just appeared one day and went about his normal business. Also had a blue chromis go missing for about 10 days, but he turned out to be stuck in the overflow, lol...

He made his first appearance today. I was just about to assume he was dead.
