So how many hours a day do you do?

Originally, I did 12 on actinics, and 8 on halides. Now I am using my AC Jr. season simulator, but only shortening my halides by 2.5 hours. So what ever the schedule is for actinics, and 2.5 hours less for Halides. (The AC Jr. program has as low as 11 hrs 20 min to as long as 13hrs)

So how long do you run your lights? Can they go longer than 12 hrs? How long do you run your halides compared to actinics? Just curious.

 

I run my halides for 5 hours, actinics for 7.

 

I don't run MH. My T5s, I am going to run 10 hours on daylight with an hour either side for actinics. Then i am going to adjust for any algae blooms or coral stress.

 

Why so few hours?

 

I haven't noticed any adverse affects on the corals (in fact, they all seem to be growing like weeds), and I'm really not home much - and when I am, I'm typically in bed by 11:30 or so.

I get home around 6 at night, and I have the actinics come on at 4 and turn off at 11. MH run from 5-10. I run moonlights 24/7. Since all seems well, I just haven't increased the photo period.

So far now in May I've actually been back at my house for a total of 3 days to enjoy the tank .. and I fly out again Sunday ... so, no need to really run excess lighting / electricity if it does not seem to be needed.

I run my t-5 atinics for 9 hours a day and my MH's for 7 hours a day and it seems to work so far
