but i'm thinking a tortoise is a better option. please talk us out of this. although I'm kinda happy with the idea and want one to, found some online for around $100-200 and some for $3000lol, Gonna be moving to florida in the next year or so, so it'll be easier once it gets big.

Go turtle they are more fun plus u can do a turtle/fresh water fish tank. I had turtles long ago they are fun to watch swim around and plus you can hand feed them when they get used to you

And what part of fl will you be moving to?

kinda, but $375 for a tortoise seems extreme for my interest, thats alot of corals and fish;)

My wife and I got my daughter a Russian Tortoise a few years ago and its slowly become my tortoise as my daughter doesn't really take care of it but she's getting better lol

The fun time is during the summer we'll take him/her (we still haven't figured that one out lol) outside to walk in the grass, and it always B-lines it to the butterfly bush we have I swear it can smell that thing a mile away, it loves the flowers on that bush, the leaves too but more so the flowers.

Anyways I would go tortoise if you can you'll be in the perfect climate for it and you could make it a nice box for it to live out side during the summers, we have a box on our back porch that we keep it in during the summer unless of course its raining then we bring it inside, and get yourself a butterfly bush, it looks great in the yard and its free food for the tortoise :D

Turtles are like 10-25 dollars at my lfs and pet store. when I had mine since turtles eat alot of veggie algae eaters love to eat thier poo lol mostly tho just do the norm water change and you will be fine. But remember when you buy a turtle say it is for school or research or they won't sell it to you now. It's a really stubid law
