I'm sick of this horrible Prizm skimmer. I should have done my research before throwing $70 down the drain. This stupid thing hardly works and is too damn loud. What I have is a 20 gallon long soon to be reef tank. I've run it for about a month now with water changes every couple of weeks. My main question is, how silent is the Remora? This tank is in my room so I don't want anything too loud at night. For a 20 gallon do I really need one if I'm doing frequent water changes?

I have one and don't think it's that loud. Some people may thing they are louder, but you get used to it. I never really thought it was that loud. But it's really up to personal preference.

Ok i made the same mistake as you did by buying the prizm. Now i have the remora with 1200 maxi with drain and skimmer box it is really awesome. As for the noise its not bad it gets better as it breaks in, i also did the update to it for the noise. It really works great once its broken in. Good luck Mike

There is another alternative as well. Look into the Octopus BH-100F. A good little skimmer in it's own right.

Once the remora is broken in, it quiets down. I don't find it noisy at all.

I have a Remora Pro with Maxijet 1200 I bought used. Works great. I keep the cup all the way down to geta wet green tea skimmate.

I never found it to be loud at all. I've seen lots of posts with people complaining about noise though. Maybe since mine was used it was very well broken in.
