So that was what all the damsel talk was about

I took over a 75g tank a few months ago and finally added my first fish, a lawnmower blenny. I know not flashy, but already had a peaceful community of a yellow tang, lemonpeel angel, magenta dottyback, percula clown, and blue damsel. I wanted something that would do some work and clean up a bit.

I acclimated and dropped it in. The damsel met the new fish coming into the water and has bothered it all day. The blenny even jumped for it, once.

I've rearranged rock and captured the blenny in my acclimation tank, keeping it inside the main tank, so the damsel can look, but not touch. I'll try again, tomorrow.

Until today, the damsel has been the quietest fish. No more of that.

My ultimate credo is; "if the tank is peacefull, LEAVE IT ALONE!

You wanna know what it is….experience, plain and simple. What’s that saying, “once bitten, twice shy” it fits.

When someone is happy with a fish there is no need to post it, but if someone is unhappy…that fishes rep is toast ! I am sure there are plenty of people out there more than happy with their Damsels – and I wish you luck with yours. There’s another saying that comes to mind “better you than me!” lol really tho, good for you.

After I put the blenny in the "box", last night, the damsel continued to swim over and posture in front of it.

This morning, the damsel didn't seem to have such an interest in that area of the tank. I plan to keep the blenny in lockup today and install some screen above, tonight. I don't think it wants to see the outside of the tank, again.

I don't plan on removing the damsel. If I could catch it, I'd quarantine it for a bit, rescape and then reintroduce, but it knows the net and the trap.

I have a yellow tale damsel. She is aggressive to new fish for a couple of days, then she calms down and is just fine. Give them some time to get use to each other, hopefully the damsel will calm down. Bets of Luck

I guess I have one of the good damsel stories. I have to little pink ones in my tank and they never bother a thing. I have introduced a scribbled rabbit fish two clowns and a scooter blenny since they have been in there.

I am surprised the dottyback didn't chime in. They are worse than damsels. I had a damsel and eight-line wrasse gang up on my mandarin when I introduced it a few weeks ago. Haven't seen it since. I fear they killed it. We shall see.......

Interesting point about the dottyback, it seemed to me both it and the lemonpeel went out of their way to invade bother the damsel. For a bit, the blenny was holed up in a corner, the damsel repeatedly went to tail whack it and either one would chase it away.

It's been interesting to observe. The blenny jump happened when we were looking. It was a high speed chase and a great launch. We were all wide eyed.
