My master plan was a Coral Beauty and Flame Angel in my new 90 gallon tank. They came today for Live Aquaria and I planned on putting them into my old 29 BioCube for quarantine and separating them with eggcrate.

Thinking that adding them together and separating them during quarantine would help in keeping both.

But no matter how well that eggcrate was in that tank, no matter how small the opening they both kept criss-crossing the tank for over an hour. So I gave up, pulled out the eggcrate and now what, hope for the best. Its a small tank for two dwarf angels, although they are very small.

I felt the same way when I put my copperband in with my 2 tangs. One thing I can say is, my copperband was a brave fish, he's alive and there all friends now, sometimes it works out, I hope yours do to.

Ouch. Yea, your in rough shape there. 2 Angels of the same genre is not a good idea.

Yeh, this is gonna be tricky. Have you thought about putting one into a small plastic breeder in the 29g for the time of the quarantine?

The only good news is that because this is an existing tank, there is a lot of rockwork with plenty of hiding places and they're both pretty small.

I made the same selection for my new BF 90 and after a few days of bliss came the pecking wars but now several weeks later they seem to have come to an understanding and are semingly co-existing happily in the new abode....

I don't understand why people try 2 angels in the same tank. Even a 90 wouldn't be big enough for them would it? From what I've read even IF you get them to tolerate each other in a bigger tank, at any given moment they can turn and start fighting. I guess what I'm saying is, the success stories are far outweighed by the tragic ones.

A 90 is big enough for both of them. Saying that you cant have both in the same tank is another one of those handed down hobby myths just like you can't get an anemone for X months. I havent done it personally. Run a search and look at the times it has been tried and attempted successully. I will say I have also read stories that have ended in tragedy as well. It's gonna be a 50/50 shot.

Multiple angel tanks are doable, you just have to be very careful about which specimens you pick and how and when you add them.

I read that people had success when adding them together and I figured my 90 would be good, the problem now is quarantining them in a 29g considering my divider did not work.
