does anyone run a sump with a filter sock and no bubble baffles ? i have a 20 gallon sump i made a few years ago with baffles and it works great. i have since added a sock and noticed that the bubbles do not get thru the sock. i want to make another sump for my other tank and i am thinking of not using a bubble trap. i just want an open sump for my sock, aquaripure pump, nextreef reactor, and return pump. anyone have this setup?

My current sump has no baffles and I don't have any issues with bubbles at all. Can't really see this well but the filter sock is on the left of image

If you are running a protein skimmer, it performs better with a constant, optimal water level where it sits.

    Lots of possibilities here.

My 50g sump on my 125 has no baffles proper, but does have several simple, inexspensive ways to keep muy skimmer in a constant level, my chaeto out of my RP, etc.

Here's my sump thread, with pics and video
