I bought a clam that was attached to alittle puck. there is somthing on the puck I assume its alive and growing. I dont no what it is tho or if i should pull it out.

It is soft and black. It almost has the characteristics of a star fish. But dose not move. Its has a velvet texture and is flat. it looks like its spreading "growing"

    Any Ideas???

    sorry no pics.

After researching black sponge alittle bit i would say thats what it is.

I will probably get ride of it because it is starting to touch the clam shell.

But is it really a bad thing? It seems pretty harmless...
