:gossip: Well I'm an idiot and broke my tank lid. Does anyone know where I could get a lid for a 34 gallon solana cube tank (it's a sheet of glass)? I was cleaning it and it just snapped...

    Oh well...

Not sure where to get replacement but I wouldn't use a glass top any way. Have you thought about egg crate.

I have a solana. They are pretty nice but every time I change my water I think I'm going to break that top.

I could take some measurements of mine if you end up needing to get one made at a glass shop. Have you tried contacting Current? info@current-usa.com

    Replaced with eggcrate

I replaced my solana top with eggcrate that I cut to fit. The tank got way too hot with the glass top, plus it is so thin that it is easy to break. Also, I mounted my hanging pendant pole to the wall behind my tank rather than the tank stand itself. That allowed me to adjust the pendant much higher than the adjustable pole would allow when mounted to the tank stand. It also gave me peice of mind that if the pole slipped (the part you could move up or down) that it would never be able to touch the water based on how I positioned it on the wall.

You might find that works for you as well.

Well TJV09, we are both in the same boat now. I'm out of town and this morning I was talking to my girl when I heard a crash and a scream. The light fell onto the lid and shattered it. I guess enough of it was left to keep the light from going in the water. She said she got all the glass she could find out of the tank. Hopefully enough is left so I can take some good measurements of it. I have a six line wrasse that jumped out before when the lid was over an inch for feeding so my girl put a plastic storage bin lid on top for now. The light is off and moved to the side so my corals are going to have to deal with a couple days of darkness. At least someone was home when it happened.

    denMk,
I dont really get it. Isn't eggcrate opaque? How does the light get through the top?

The worst part was, when it happened all she could say was "the glass broke in the aquarium". That scared the crap out of me. I just imagined my little buddies and gallons of water flowing on the floor.
