Hey guys! I found a replacement. A semi local vender ordered it for me from his wholesaler. I can give you his info if you want. It came to about 25 bucks, I'm not sure what the shipping would be-- I'm going to pick it up later this week/weekend.

Personally, I love the tank without the top, but do have a cat who would probably love to go on a scuba adventure. So far I just shut the door to the room the tank is in when I leave it--- my only worry is that I also have a firefish and I've read they're prone to jumping!

What does the egg crate actually look like?

MCFARROW- I can get the measurements for the lid when I pick it up if you need them!

Right on, that's great news. Let me know how it goes.

I've learned since the start of this thread that eggcrate is this.

Oh cool! That's not too bad, but I don't really prefer it... how about you?

I got the lid from a vendor on another forum-- ManhattanReefs, here's his website Welcome to Saltwatercritters.com - Home - name = Russ!

Still have to pick it up when it comes in

I haven't tried eggcrate myself. I figured the creep would be crazy and my girl always complains of the smell every time I use to take the lid off but I guess I need to replace the carbon more often.

Of the three distributors current sent me to only one said they could order it for me and its back ordered. I'll email Russ and see what he can do for me.
thanks for the link man, I appreciate it.

No problem. Glad I could help! Yeah, that's a definite benefit of having the lid. I've also noticed the water evaporates a lot quicker without the top.

How is your Solana? What do you have in it livestock/coral wise?

Your right about the evaporation. I left the lid off last spring before I could afford a chiller.

I have some little guys, a diamond goby, a couple occelaris, bangaii cardinals, a six line wrasse and a lawnmower blenny. a monster rose bubbletip that just split is one of my favorites along with some duncans fingers, acans, openbrain and candy canes and a whole bunch that I can can't remember the names of. I don't have many stonies. My friends are ridiculously generous and their reefs grow like crazy. I definitely lucked out.

what about you and do you have any other tanks?

Oh awesome! You're lucky, lol corals are expensive!

My tank is fairly new, about 2.5 month old. So far I have 2 fals percs, 1 coral beauty, and 1 firefish. I need to get some color in there other than orange, lol.

As far as corals... I have button polyps, mushrooms, zoas, and xenia. They're all small frags though. Need to get some colorful stuff for sure.

I wanted to get a diamond goby, but that'd be too much orange in my tank!

you should go with the diamond goby, you have a good color scheme going on and they are super cool.

most of the corals are new. I battled a euclid worm and won but he got most of my lps and zoas.
