Hello i hope im posting this in the right area if not my bad hahah but anyways today i spent like 54 dollars at petco (On water and chemicals)

First off i got the chemicals from Instant Ocean:

    1. Calcium Booster -what it say's on the bottle "Safely increases calcium level's and it says "It essential for corals and coralline algae" Also "No nitrates, phophates or silicates and concentrated Formula"
    2. Natural Nitrate Reducer -what it say's on the bottle "safety improves water quality" and what it also say "Promotes natural Biological Process, reduces unwanted Nutrients, Increases buffering Capacity, time-release action"
Secound one "Aquarium Cyclin & Water Conditioning kit"

Step 1 is: Microbe-Lift/Aquatic Stress Relief -removes chlorine and destroys chloramines. Calms and reduces stress during water changes and transports, while adding protective slim coat conditioner which forms multiple layers of protections against brusises, missing scales and damage"

Step 2 is: speeds the removal of all organic waste matter in aquariums by adding select of microbes that increases the rate of organic breakdown, improves filter performances, and removed toxic nitrate.

Step 3 is: Provides necessary nitrifying bacteria (nitrosomonas sp., Nitrobacter sp., Nitrospira sp.) required for the biological nitrification process and assures the continued removal of toxic ammonia and nitrite!"

step 2 and 3 are supposly be added immediately after adding fish & food

and the last thing i got is:

    Prime
Removes Chlorine, Chloramine, Ammonia Detoxifies Nitrite & Nitrate and also provdies slime coat

So what i'm asking did i good a job of reading in the store on these chemicals or no or a waste of money?

Prime is always good to have on hand. Great job there.

I have heard that Microbe-Lift is a great product as well. There are some threads on here about it.

As for the products from IO, do you have a calcium test kit? If not, then don't dose it. The nitrate reducer you really didn't need because you have the Prime. I would probably return that product IMO.

Well its because i got a biocub (oceanic) 29 gal and i just put in 'Microbe-Lift' i put in 1 tsp for each step bec i didn't know and i couldn't really see what also all i saw was 1tsp for ever 10 gals soo yea (not very smart) hahaha But do u think that i should ad 1tsp for Prime to aswell or should i let the 'Microbe-lift' filter through for 24 hours and see if my nitrate goes down. (i used old sand that someone gave me crush coral and i guess it had alot of nitrate and blah in there) but i did my water changes today and got those chemicals (bec they gonna help me save money soo that good :) <3333) and when i get the cleaner crew to :) heheh sorry i'm like talking off ur ear Stickysmith :p

Don't worry about talking my ear off lol. I'm stuck babysitting anyways. There are two things that caught my eye. I have bolded both of them lol. How old was the sand and crushed coral? This could cause you a lot of problems honestly.

I guess my first question would be what are you trying to accomplish?
Is this a new tank? Trying to get it to cycle?
Did you rinse the sand well?
    Are you using RODI?

A fellow Wisconsinite! Nice! What part of Wisconsin are you from? I agree with sticksmith's advice. Is this a fish only tank? Do you use RO-DI water?
