I want to add some purchased coral. The few I have so far (listed in sig) were given to me by a co-worker.

So I've been looking around at http://reefplayground.net and http://www.liveaquaria.com

Asking you folks for some help on a direction (of coral and where to purchase). My LFS coral is on rock full of hair algae and aiptasia - of which I have neither - so I don't want to buy from them.

I'm running T5 HO. And I don't feel ready for a coral that requires to be fed by me. I want, for now, corals that can live off the light or what gets mag float cleaned from my glass.

And I want something different from what I already have (i.e. I already have mushroom, leather, and xenia, etc.). So I'm looking at the polyps. I like the Eagle Eye and Armor of God pics I've seen.

Would these be good choices? Other ideas for coral that fits my criteria? I read through the COTM section before posting to get some ideas already.

    Thanks everyone.

(Please see sig for what I already have)

I actually have the armor of god zoas and they look awesome, especially under actinic lighting. As part of my christmas present to myself I order a bunch of frags from vividacquariums.com and I was very happy with my purchase and their customer service and most importantly the condition and quality of the frags when I got them. I would maybe try an lps such as a frogspawn or bubble or if you want to get more exotic an acan

There is a plethora of coral choices for you that are not only easy to maintain but are beautiful as well. Proper placement in an aquarium is essential however due to husbandry requirements and the fact that chemical warfare and out competing of one coral by another exists.

    I'm looking through Acan's now. http://www.vividaquariums.com says:

"We feed our Acans a combination of cyclops and mysis shrimp. Spot feeding your acans will help them multiply faster. The polyp size can increase to as much as 2.5 cm when fully open after several months of feeding."

Is this saying they'll grow faster if you feed them or that they need feeding? I don't plan on getting into feeding corals directly just yet. If it's just a matter of speed - I'm in no hurry and wouldn't feed them (so if they require it, I don't want to get one yet).

    Do Acans require feeding?

they will grow faster if fed, they don't require feeding, although benefit from it.

This is what I'm looking at ordering (one order all at once). Comments welcome on such an adventurous order (it is for me anyway) :cheesy:

    Eagle Eye Zoanthids
(Zoanthus sp.) - Frag 10-12 polyps:

    Armor of God Zoanthids
(Palythoa sp.) - Frag 2 polyps:

    Santas Aussie Acan
    (Acanthastrea lordhowensis) - Two Polyps:

I think the AoG and Acan will look neat next to each other
    Bubble Coral
    (Plerogyra sp.) - Small: 2"-3"

    Green Long Tentacle Plate Coral
    (Heliofungia actiniformis) - Small: 2”-3”

    Electric Torch Coral
    (Euphyllia glabrescens) - One Head:

    Whatcha think?
