I just upgraded to a 180g tall. 30inch tall. I currently have to 2x 250mh JBJ 10k. Im curious if this is enough light to carry almost anything. I was thinking about adding a 3rd 250w mh but im not sure if it is necessary. I want to make sure i have sufficient lighting for my tank and am not lacking at all. Lighting setups is very confusing for me. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks guys/gals!

your 250 should grow anything you want to keep up to about 32 inches deep so at 30 your good to go

2x 250 MH with those nice reflectors will do a great job for you. SPS and anemones will be very happy with that light! I think you might like 14k bulbs a bit better then the 10k. They bring out the colors of your coral so nicely! Just a thought. That is an awesome dimensioned tank! I have a deep tank!

No it's a 180g. I added 160 pds of live rock yesterday, I made an island on the right side, made the island on the left side bigger and taller and a made a top bridge out of occur across from both island with lr zip tied to it. Ill add pics later on.

You'll need more lighting at least 3x 250

i doubt this. It depends on what types of things he will want to keep, types of bulbs (color temp) and hanging distance. If he had 3x250 he could grow anything he ever wanted IMO but to say at LEAST three is somewhat mis leading. Since its a tall tank and not a long there light is more concentrated and he doesnt have to worry about it spreading out and diminishing over the length of the tank.

Plus one. Adding another will not increase water penetration (par) enough to take the plunge now.
