I am putting together my 72 bow and I came across an obsticle....
I was going to make the upper 20 long the refugium but my light won't fit above it now.

So, I have comeup with these two pictures to change it around but I had the original set-up still stuck in my head and it's just not sitting right with me.
The tank I am using for a sump/fuge is my old 55 gallon so I have plenty of room except for the fact that I want to use the sand from my DT now for the fuge. That'll give my balls a DSB and places for pods and stuff within the Chaeto macro.
My ass. includes a pump for some type of cooling like a rio3000, a pump for my skimmer, a pump for my return, a pump for the bio-balls (yes, I can't get rid of them) and a pump or power-head for my reactor.
That is alot of pumps and the reason I was trying to T off the return until this guy told me that was inaccurate and to use a powerhead or a rio30.
The one way will give me more room for my current DT sand and I won't have to disrupt it too much.
So here I am thinking "wow" and a little overwhelmed.

    Any help?
(and if someone could tell me how to give multiple kudos like 50 or so, you know bigger numbers then 1... lol... please lemme know.)

im not sure i understand the problem, i guess its just not being able to fit the stuff under the dt. you new drawings look fine.

the only thing is i dont know why you need the bioballs? is it heavily stocked FO tank?
im not a bb person but i dont think you need a whole twenty long, i would try to make a tower out of acrylic and it would save some space and make maitenence easier.

Sorry, I had to run real quick.

I just don't feel right with the set-up. I wanted to fuge in the top 20 long so the flow could be regulated and now I have all the flow going through my sump. I built the stand to accomidate the 20 long but to pull out my bowl on the skimmer it had to be raised so it took the difference for the light to sit on top. In my head I was thinkin fine, there wasn't enough room for all my sand anyway so I'll just switch it to bio-balls but then my fuge being in the sump would be full flow and not really give the macro a chance to do it's job.
The tower idea is what I did for the berlin bag. It makes i way easier to grab the bag out and let it drain when it's full.

I really liked my 20 gallon bio-balls. The set-up I have, includes them and I have had no problem with them since I've started the hobby. All my Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate has always been 0. The only thing that ever pops up is the Phosphate goes up to 1.0 at the highest (one time) but it's usually .5 or lower. I do feed alot and I know I do but I like watching my stuff brighten up and grow.
I don't know what my concern is. I just am not clicking with the design. I know some people run only a fuge and have it high flow, I just wanted mine regulated.
I guess I am trying to run two designs and it just isn't flowing.
