nemastoma is nice. I love that macro, I have tried to get some for a long time, but it never works out. As for flame and fire fern, both are not edible, easy to care for and do well with 2 watts per gallon full spectrum or better. They look better in white light than in blue.

Both are great! But IMO are hard to grow, I have a hard time introducing certain macro's into my tank. If the fish don't eat it, or some hermit crab bite it from the stem... its always something.

I had some red ogo that looked nice and it also floureseed in the actinic light. (But it didnt last more than 4 days) I think my tanks are lacking the Nitrates that they feed off of. I use chaeto to keep my nitrates to zero...

Now if you had a tank with exessive nutrients...them maybe it would be successful

It never hurts to go for it, buy some and see how it goes, post it here so we can read about your success of problems...

    Good luck.

HI Peredhill, I am posting the questions you asked to help others:

Anyway, I definitely want to try one of these but I'm having a real hard time deciding which to go with.

Go with both :), Really though I think the fire fern is a little bit more difficult, and I think we just sold out. My buyer in Germany is about to purchase every macro we have.

I've read everything I can find on them too.

Not much out there, we introduced them to the market, so if it isn't from us it probably doesn't exist

Does one grow slower than the other? Is one more tolerant/hardy than the other? Does one soak up Ca slower than the other?

Both grow pretty slowly relative to say chaeto. They grow faster than coral though under normal conditions. There is absolutely no chance of them taking over your tank though. They don't creep along the rock, (a characteristic of nuisance macro)

They are both ridiculously easy to keep IMO. Just place them in the tank. With your tank conditions, they will do fine. They aren't edible, so no threat from crabs or fish. Both can be attached by super glue, or fishing line.

Both take up calcium slowly, because they both grow slow. There isn't too much difference between the two, because they are closely related.
