I dont know exactly where to put this question and that is why it is in general. Anyways, today I noticed on the glass of my tank that there are a whole bunch of very small critters that look like a white dot with 4 to 5 legs coming off of them allowing them to stick to the glass. I also noticed that they are only in areas that I have powerheads pointed at. The legs dont move. Its almost like little eggs attached to the glass with spider web material. Could these be copepod eggs or something? I couldnt match them to anything on melevsreef identifier page so I dont know where to go from here.

It's the medusa stage of a jellyfish. If you don't have a seahorse tank, it's not a real big deal. If the population of them really explodes, you have too many nutrients in your tank so let us know.

However, they will NOT grow into jellyfish. Your skimmer, powerheads, filters, and predation by fish will kill them.

Well, the tank is a FOWLR tank with a volitan lion, purple tang, marine betta, and 2 inch hermit, and yes, I probably do have to many nutrients in there. I have been investigating my severe cloudy water which I am told is a bacterial bloom due to too many nutrients. I am going to get a bulb for my UV sterilizer to see if I can correct that, what should I do about the nutrients?

Cut down on feeding and water changes more frequently will help! I would also add carbon to your water! Dilligent protein skimming also is a plus!

    :thumbs_up

    And Karma right back. ;D

EDIT: I love UV sterilizers for both phyto blooms and bacterial blooms. They'll get your water clear very quickly. With that said, please start up a new thread detailing your equipment, feeding routine, filtration devices, etc. so we can figure out how to help you keep your nutrients down in the future.
