Collonista snail are harmless. If you have a sump remove all the obvious possible culprits like the asternia, peppermint and place them there.

I'll throw in another monkey wrench and list amphipods as a possible suspect as well. Certain species will, and it's impossible to tell one species from another without a microscope.

I would agree with the amphipods as well. I know alot of people will disagree and say that they wont eat zoas but I have a problem with them. I see them all over mine every night slowly eating them, Ive even seen them on the sand bed with single zoa that they chewed off the colony

I too considered this as I have a large population of amphipods and they do crawl all over my zoanthids and palys, but after some time I decided they were just eating any natural decay of said corals. I guess the best way to test this idea is with multiple colonies or frags of zoanthids. If amphipods are the culprit they should be an problem for all colonies within a system.

its hard to tell if there eating some of my bigger colonies because i cant tell if any zoaz are missing or dead because of the number of zoas in the colony is to big to keep count but ones that i frag with like 3 or 4 zoas I can see just after one night were destroyed. it may just be that its since they were just fragged that they were stressed and weak so the amphipods ate them. I guess i need to get one of the corner magnetic frag racks to keep them off the ground
