some type of alge in my over flow

    my tanks ben up for 4 and a half months id say. in my overflow there is purple algae growing on the sides allot of it and allso pinkish stuff :O it looks pritty but is it ok? and some of the algae in over flow kinda is falling off like its hanging on bye a thread and moveing with the flow.

    i would have to agree...it can become a problem if it breaks lose and clogs your aqua lifter.
    I clean all my equipment every 3 months...regardless.
    Preventative measures. : )

    well its not clogging my filter it just its growing on the isnide of the lil sucking tube that sucks wanter from my overflow to uther side of over flow then that drains down to bio balls its not clogging it its just growing on the inside is it good or bad algae?

    coraline or cotton candy algae...both are in effect visually pleasing...coraline is what you want...cotton candy...not a serious pest but can clog
