Well, since the box is not toothed or baffled with the standard kit, I'd suggest the super nano. :)

Now do you think I should also drill the return line or just have that hang over?

I wouldn't do an overflow, have a small pump that doesn't produce too much circulation go from your DT to the Fuge. Then on the fuge have a small hole drilled at the top, maybe 3/4" or 1/2", on the opposite side. Since you are using such a small fuge anything larger will just be a hassle. Attach a bulkhead to it, one that has a thread/thread end then you can attach both a thread barb fitting and a thread bulkhead screen to it. The screen will prevent the macros from flowing into your DT, and still allow the copepods and mysis shrimp to travel into the DT. Pump wise I would get something like a small JBJ circulation pump or the Hydor Pico Evo-Mag 180, and attach the appropriate flex tubing with a u shape return into the fuge. Then the power the pump will determine how much water is flowing back into your display. I would also add some sort of check valve to pump line in case of a power outage; with all this you wont have to worry about a overflow flooding.

When you fill your fuge for the first time only fill it to the bottom of your bulkhead, then turn on the pump. This will cause the pump to create the correct amount of flow to circulate back into the DT. I am doing something similar above my sump, I can send pictures once I have my fuge finished but, it will be like another month before that. Or if you want I can draw you a sketch on google sketch up. let me know.

With your display being a nano cube you might be able to place the pump in your filtration system that is hidden in the back that way, the system doesn't take up display area.

That's a small fuge and your return pump feeding it will be small too so I wouldn't worry about an overflow box. As suggested, I would drill 1 hole...but to be safe, I would split the drain in the fuge, plumb it so you have 2 strainers feeding the same bulkhead...just incase you get some macro clogging up one of them you wouldn't end up with a flood....so plumb a "T" to the bulkhead inside the fuge, then a couple of elbows with strainers attached. If you don't want to see the plumbing in the fuge, then drill 2 holes and have the plumbing on the outside. Good luck.

While a screen may prevent a macro leaf from flowing down the drain, it would also ensure the leaf will block it. The overflow box is your best security against pumping your DT onto the floor.

I would never rely on a check valve or recommend it to anyone else. Far too many have failed and caused a flood. The hang-over return will work just fine; just make sure the end is at or very near the water line to minimize back-flow before it breaks siphon in the event of a power outage.

Bulkhead with screen works fine. No need for the extra expense of an overflow.

A check valve works fine as long as it is plumbed correctly and cleaned regularly. Personally I use Y check valve as they are more reliable and easier to clean.
