I have this friend who was asking me about cycling for his friend's benefit.

Through the course of the conversation I had mentioned that part of the cycle is breaking down nasties- in particular so the tank can handle the bio-load of fish - aka poop.

Somehow the conversation was poorly transmitted to my friend's friend.

I was asked to go over there and check out the setup. You want to know what I found?

A turd. Floating around (there was a PH giving flow too!). Bobbing.

Not fish turd. Oh no. HIS turd. No joke.

Somehow he managed to hear "human waste will speed up a cycle" somehow.

I was at first disgusted, then I found it hilarious, then I became concerned. I have no idea if it'll really hurt anything, but my guess is yes it will and at the very least would keep me from ever ever ever putting my hand in there.

I advised he drain the tank, remove the turd, and start over. He said he would.

I still can't believe it. This is one of those stories that I will remember I think.

I was, however, impressed that the turd was still holding form despite the flow. There were no fish to peck at it though...

OMG. I am still alternating between laughing and wanting to throw up!

    WOW!!!!

Brings a whole new level to the word "bio-load".

    Just plain WOW.

Also sounds like he needs some more fiber if that bad boy is that solid still!!! :p :-X :-/

 All I want to know is if he pooped directly into the tank or if he transferred said poop from bowl to tank. Inquiring minds :hehe:
