Thread is getting a bit confusing

OP - Blarghensparg - is the one with the issue

Reefready 101 , are you involved in this Blargensparg tank?
I ask this because your responces related to the silicone used, may be confusing some of the people trying to help

it is the silicone on the Blargensparg tank that 2 in 10 is trying to ascertain here

PVC cement is NSF 61 approved for use in drinking water ;) No issues with it in a saltwater tank!

When I checked it three days ago it read as follows: ammonia: 0.2 ppm, nitrite: 0, nitrate: bout 3 ppm. S.G. is a bit too low at 1.022, and temperature is typically about 80.

The guy at Lowes who's was like one of the main managers said they didn't have it in plastic. I know they do because I got one for my 75 tank. >.>

Like steve wright said if that piece of brass is sitting in your sump exposed, that's most likely the culprit.

maybe he meant that they had none in stock
and after all he may not be familiar with reef aquariums and toxicity of copper etc to marine life

I would find one somewhere else

but in addition please confirm the brand and type of silicone used
as that could also be the issue

that is exactly what I suspected - but others may not have been sure
we need to know which one you used, so we can eliminate that from the list of possible causes
