    Hi Guys,

I apologize for asking "what is this" again. I just keep finding things :) I did a water change today and used the baster to blow off the rocks, so I don't know if these got blown today or not. I don't remember seeing them before today. The single one looks like possibly a duster but can't be certain. They are green in color and are on the back glass. I have about 5 or 6 of varying size. They don't seem to be moving but I will keep an eye on them. Can anyone say what they are? i apologize for the bad pictures but these were the best I could get. They are pretty small and on the back. Thanks in advance!!!

    Regards,
    Ivy

Hi yes they are the lava form off a jellyfish , i think they are called hydriods? I had lots of them in my tank at the start but they never make it to the jellyfish stage!

Hum second look the 1st looked like a hydriod but the second looks like a type off algea?

Thanks for the reply. Is this something I should pull out? I am thinking of trying to grab them with the tweezer if I can. my initial instinct was algae because it was green, but now.... Thanks!!!

I have seen little tuffs of bryopsis that start like that on the glass? You say its green, is it feathery?

They are all green in color an the big one does look feathery. Is that a typeof algae? If so, what is the best way to get rid of it? Thanks!!!!

If it is bryopsis, get rid of it now. That stuff is bad news. If there is very little of it, then an algae eating fish should take care of it. If there is a lot of it and it takes over, most algae eating fish cannot handle the toxicity and die. Yep, I lost a foxface and a sailfin tang from them eating too much a few years back. The beast non fish way to solve it is to elevate your magnesium levels to like 1600ppm.

So I shouldn't panic? A name would be great or do you know where I could look. None of my books show anything similar. Did yours go away on its own?

It went away once I got a phos reactor and a better skimmer. basically starved it out. But in your case I would get as much out as you can before it takes hold. If it is the same stuff it can be a pain to get rid of when its on the rocks.

well it could be a few things first it kinda looks like Cladophoropsis, but I have had turf algae that started out like that in its early stages. But like I said I'm not sure maybe someone here knows.A good person to ask would be John Maloney. He started this thread.
