O.k. boys and girls, I was out hunting today and saw this beauty at a not so often frequented LFS; I am ( as some know) an old softy, so this is my first LPS coral. They called it an octopus but more like a Frog spawn. Anyway, they only wanted $35.00! I finally hit a jackpot...Now, any care giving tips will be appreciated. I have 4 T5s on the tank (2 actinic and 2 10,000k HO) plus 2 power brite strips. Calc averages 400 and Alk at 9-10. Mag averages 1280-1320. SG is .025 steady and temp is 78-80. Thanks in advance to all of you who respond, I appreciate the help. [IMG]

Well it is not an SPS it is an LPS. The lights you have are more than enough to keep it growing. As for the food I have heard that they can eat small pieces silversides, but im pretty sure there is otehr stuff. I have one under PCs and it is doing fine, I do not know if its growing fast or not but its growing some newheads...A plus is that my clown decided to host it within 24 hours of me placing it into my tank...

Nice looking piece you got there. Make sure not to touch the soft part of it(which is the tope part) the bottom is hard. Im pretty sure he will do well.

The lights are good for this coral, just keep a medium flow going around it and it will be happy as can be. keep the tentacles moving and everything is all good

you really shouldn't be buying specimen without knowing its care level.

fortunately for you it photosynthetic meaning LIGHT. but it wouldnt hurt to target feed with some coral food.

moderate flow just so the tenticles wave about, not getting blasted.

placement just about anywhere as long as they get light

My lfs told me (doesn't mean it's true) that the biggest mistake people make with frogspawn is that they overfeed them and not to feed any more than once a month if that. I give mine a bit of brine shrimp every couple months or so...
