You can google cyanobacteria as that's probably what it is. You can also upload by clicking the camera icon on one of your posts. Alternatively, you can upload your picture to a free service like photobucket.com and then copy the link into your post.

Save the picture in a place such as "my pictures" then post a reply and click the attach button. It will bring up a window for you o browse for the pic, search your last saved area and open the pic then click upload. It can take it a min to upload. Then, your done lol

OK, now the question on the 3rd picture....piece of dead coral found washing in the surf in Bermuda 5-years ago. Daughter brings it down and drops in my tank last night as present to daddy. Immediately has some color to it? Is that possible?

I dont know about after five years, thats a long time to be dry. The purple algae in your first looks like coralline algae, the good stuff. It should cover the green in good time. Tank looks good though.

Yeh i was thinking something may have been living on it when it was plucked, it then died and once reinserted in warer it is simply a different shade than the dead coral, but was fearful of evil things. She confirmed she didn't buy it, i was concerned about a store treated piece having chemicals on it etc.

Oh and thanks for the compliment, I try to test regularly and am buying 4.4 gallons of sea water every two weeks to rotate in, I have mixed my own water, but prefer store bought..it tastes better too...

This is the open brain my daughter bought me for Xmas, with her saved up reffing money. Oh and I attached my puppy teddy for the heck of it cuz he is so darn cute, he sleeps up against the stand since night #1, I think the soft hum is comforting.

IMO its best to mix your own water if your doing water changes. Usually pet stores use many different tanks on one system. If any of their new fish come in with parasites or a contagios disease then it could spread through the entire system.
Then you buy the water bring it home and suddenly your fish has ick or your corals have a fungi.
    Just a heads up :)

thanks what is your view on nutri-seawater? I know I am paying up, but just look at my ID here...using it like every other change which is about 10% evry two weeks....I skip lunch at work 1-day every to weeks to cover the cost...it helps my weight out too..lol
