So a few weeks ago I lost both my blood shrimp, they just completely vanished and have since not shown up. Two days ago I lost my 4.5 inch pink spot goby. Same thing as the shrimp, it just completely vanished. The goby has been in the tank for almost 2 years and nothing new added to the tank in the past 6 months. I have a closed top and checked the overflow, but the goby is no-wheres to be found. I thought with the shrimp that maybe my angel or wrasse got hungry but no way did they eat the goby. I have looked all over the tank (I have not ripped the rock apart) for any evidence of the goby but there is none to be found. Is there any type of hitchhiker that could have laid dormant for 2 years that could be hiding in the rock work and has now just started to feed/prey on fish and inverts? I really don't want to rip the tank apart but if another fish comes up missing i might need to.

    Any ideas???

Here any clicking coming from the tank?
I'm just going to throw 'Mantis Shrimp' out there. Stab in the dark. Possible hitchhiker with some rock? I got one that way a few tanks ago.

I would setup a web cam and see what happens. Might help locate the offender too.

What are your water parameters? I'm intrigued by the idea of a mantis shrimp, but I highly doubt that is what caused this.

Watching my melarunus wrasse swim around with my skunk cleaner tentacles sticking out of his mouth was my first cause of great anger in reef keeping.

Many critters have a planktonic larval stage and are quite minute when they settle out of the mix and begin to morph, so while it is rare, it's not unheard of for something that "couldn't possibly have been missed" to suddenly appear in one's tank after a substantial period from the last addition.
