Doctor said my brain has serious issues; on the left side there's nothing right, and on the right side there's nothing left!

    I think its a favite

No my camera sucks. The flesh has receded, no inflation, and white is coming through.

Brains are just not doing well in my tank and I can't figure out why.

Unless the mag is really swinging around, or is at a ridiculously low or high level (in which case other corals would be upset too) I would venture to say mag is not the problem. Though it doesn't hurt to have a kit.

I see what you're talking about though, where the skeleton is starting to show through. Unfortunately sometimes people have one certain coral they can't keep. For a while in my first tank it was montipora caps, second tank was birdsnest.

The only thing I can think of at this point would be lights. In general favites (and all coral) should be started out on the sandbed.
