Lps are especially sensitive to low mag. Levels. Also mag. is the key to keeping alkalinity and cal. Stable. Ruling it out as the problem would be my first step.A low range phosphate kit is not a bad idea either.

Vareef, I am thinking the same as you.

Mushrooms and brains just aren't doing well.
I had a mushroom in one day go from full size to nothing. It actually looked frayed and then disappeared.
Not a single brain has done well, they start off doing good on the sandbed and then slowly go down.
I caught my shrimp destroying my acan which died, my other favite frag is on its way out, and now my dragon. I have caught the shrimp picking at my dragon....shrimps are gone!

My issue is even when I move them to indirect light, it doesn't help.

Never had issues in my old tank, just standard algae blooms, not a single coral died but I saved a few from the LFS.

You need to test your magnesium levels. You don't have to have mag levels swinging around to cause an issue. Without knowing what your mag is at your other params could be swinging like crazy so unless you test calcium and Alk 3 times a day you need to test your mag and start there to get params stable. I'm sorry but I disagree with VA, I believe your params are causing your favite to receed. I've been there piano and experienced the same problems in my earlier reefing days.

I agree with the chemistry aspect Vinny, but the status of the other corals lead me to believe that mag is not the issue. Especially considering that mushrooms generally aren't bothered by mag.

It would be much more helpful if we could see a log of the parameters, as just one test from one day doesn't really show any swings.

Again, it wouldn't hurt to have the mag kit to see, but usually if calc and alk are in a good range and stable, your mag will be too.

Seeing as the favites and mushrooms are both lower light corals, I still think lighting might be an issue. Can you turn the light down or raise it up?

Corals are funny things. My ricordia did amazing high in the tank under halides with my mag at about 1400. The ricordia I had on the bottom of the tank never did well.

It is entirely possible to have more then one issue.Doesn't it make sense to eliminate as many as possible?

I think everyone has made very valid points. I need to get a mag test and then figure out if it the lighting is the issue

How do I know if the lighting is too direct or too low?

Shrimp are gone, water change done.

My sg was wrong. My hydrometer had a crack. Turned out it was at 1.029. Got a refractometer and its now 1.026.

    Tested water
    Ph 8.2
    Nitrate 5
    Phos 0
    Ca 430
Alk or kh 130 (a little low)

Thank you all for the help. I really appreciate it.
