That kills me. I'm so glad you have the opportunity to get him. At least he has a great new chance on a better life!

I'm not a dog fan myself (or cat, for that matter), but I do believe in taking proper care of your pets, regardless what they are. Nothing deserves to be treated like that.

I remember as a child when my Dad bought a horse at an auction that looked just like that poor dog just because he felt sorry for her. She couldn't even get up off the ground by herself for the first few weeks. Best horse we ever had once we fattened her up.

My sister's Pekingese don't even get dog food. Whatever meat she's cooking for a meal, her dogs get their share just like the rest of the family. lol

Good luck, Ryan. I know this dog couldn't ask for a better home. :)

I hate to see pets treated like that. I really do hope that you get the dog Cosmo. Let us know if and when you do get the dog.

Do I see another pet naming thread? :)

Not to start an argument as this is only my opinion!

I have to admitt that I'm truly torn on this story. I actually somewhat commend the person who dropped off the dog. I certainly would not call them a coward. It takes a big person to admit they made a mistake.

I would not expect that a person who willfuly abuses a dog would have heart enough to drop that dog off at a shelter. I don't know but it just does not make sense to me. It would make more sense to me that they just let the dog go roam the streets to fend for himself.

If it were me, I would not be seeking retribution, I would be happy to have the chance to provide this dog with a better life. I would also be thankful that the person who dropped him off cared enough to give him a fighting chance.

No argument here as I fully see what you're saying, but to let it go that far does not say much about the owner in my book, but i do agree they did do the rightful thing in this situation by turning it in to the shelter. Many unanswered questions from abuse to a loving owner that couldn't provide properly for it and couldn't let go,very sad whatever the case.

And Cosmo, this is just what i would expect from you, good luck on getting your call bud.k+ to you,i'm very strongly for animal rescue of any kind.

I don't think that this would cause an argument at all. It definitely makes sense and it's good that he did bring the dog to the shelter.

Glad the dog now has a chance to find a good home! Hey that's pretty cool that you guys hunt for your own dog food. Wish there were animals roaming around in my backyard for me to do that. LOL. But unfortunately my Sheltie passed away 2 years ago. But I plan to get another one in the following years =]

Lost my 16yr old sheppard back in march. I dont kmow what goes through peoples minds. But there is a silver lining. This dog will go to a loving home ( hopefully) yours. I know it seems cowardly but at least the pup will have a really good chance. Do you know if he/she has a name. Good luck.
