Hello all! My name's Gene, and I just caught your bug I think. I've been a longtime Discus aficionado, and this Christmas I got my girlfriend a little 6 gallon desktop aquarium for some goldfish or whatever.

What does she do? Put live rock and a clownfish in it. Now I'm hooked and I want to get rid of my Discus, and start a reef tank!

That six gallon aquarium is gonna wind up costing me ten grand before this is over!

    I'm blaming you guys.;D

    Welcome to 3reef!

Wanna know a way to keep it from costing tens of thousands? Buy the right stuff the first time, take your time and learn as much as you can before diving in! Also, if you've ever treated your fresh water tank with copper, you might either want to get a new tank of use Cuprisorb right off the bat. Copper leaches into the glass and will kill inverts. Good luck and I sure hope you post a few pics of the clown & l.r.!!!!!

Welcome. You'll never look back. Salt water isn't just about the fish. You'll soon realize that you spend more time looking at and looking for all of the hitchhikers that come with your rock.

Discuss are beautiful fish. I wouldn't get rid of them.

It's a 75 barebottom setup ... I expect I'll have to get another tank though, so I can drill it.

    Some of my fishies ...
