I will be getting the ro/di from BRS (bulk reef supply), that will be a birthday present for the wife muwahaha (she loves drinking water).

think I saw some setups that put their 2 part in their top off water, it took a bit of tweaking to get the mixture right, but it seems that it would not be too difficult.

I had been thinking of going to the LFS and getting an aquarium from them to save on the shipping and handling... think they had a 120g for $530. not sure on dimensions.

So you think the DSB would be a waste of space more than anything? What are my other options as to not be required to siphon the bottom? That seems to be one of the only things I want to avoid. After the tank is setup and stocked seems that the siphoning would be the biggest pain in the rear.

    Thanks everyone for your thoughts.

That's like the Simpsons episode where Homer buys Marge a bowling ball... already engraved "HOMER" :)

I don't know about 2 part in top off - never done it, but don't know what the advantages would be either vs. just dosing your main tank.

    The 48" x 24" x 24" is probably my favorite overall aquarium.

Not at all, just that 5" is a lot for a display. I've always gone with more like 3-3.5"

    It is! :)

You can't mix two part in your top off water, as the two parts will precipitate out of solution as Calcium Carbonate. You can add one or the other to your top off water, but not both.

Hehe, yeah she would be oblivious to the duel purpose the ro/di would serve. Getting tired of buying the drinking water tubs for the fridge.. I'll just keep topping it off for her and she will be none the wiser. My father back home in south carolina purchased one and we installed it. The quality of the drinking water was amazing. His has a 5 gal holding tank... I'm not going to go that route as I live on post, and this house is not owned by me.

so 2part in the top off is a no no.. Thanks for the clarity. I'll have to figure something out when I get that far... perhaps just a dosing pump... I'm ahead of myself in these thoughts as I would hold off on the coral until i get a better finger on the hobby as a whole... say 4 months of established success in the tank... would be a good starting point for the coral endeavors.
