i really want to get into the hobby real bad. just spent over $400 on live rock cause of color and the wife aproved :) . i found lightying i wanted a month ago but the website i went to doesnt offer the same stuff :(. my reef is to include everything. i love corels she like inverabrets and fish. the lighting system i wanted isnt avaible anymore. know should i go with T5 lights or spend the money on better lites? if so where is the cheaps place to find it? spondsers want way to much for my taste. unless im looking at the wrong wbsites. tax returns are in so its not really a matter of moneys but whats going to be the best in the long run? if the best isnt what the wife wants to spend then what T5HO?

t5 i think are going to be the cheapest and the led is going to be the must.

do you like having a ripple effected in your tank. if so getting a t5 is not going to work. you need a led light's.

as spondsers go idk right now on the bottom of the forms home page there is a lot of websites maybe look there.

and i have a question for you how big is your tank.

The only way you're going to get LED's at a good price at the moment is to DIY.

A good T5 fixture is going to grow everything that you want. I'd recommend looking for a used TEK or ATI fixture. People who are upgrading to LED will be selling their fixtures.

lighting is a very in-depth subject and it's pretty hard to get a cut and dry yes or no statement about it. Over all I agree t5s are best for most things, but all lights have pros and cons to them. You get what you pay for and I suggest putting more $ rather than less $ into your light, it's one part of your system you don't want to skimp on imho.

Youll probably be happier with a 4 x T5 set up price wise and its very capable also.

Can grow corals if you place them hight enough in the water.

    Good Luck .
