so if i did a snowflake, and got a very small one, how long until i would need to upgrade..

are eels reef safe..or can certain corals be kept with not many or safer stories of them not being harmed.

depends how often you feed it. you could probably feed a silverside twice a week and make it at least 8 months.

and eels are fine with corals. they shouldn't eat or bite. although small fish might be targeted.

the eel would have this tank to itself..i have a reef tank that i can transport corals from so thats good their reef safe..

is this a good idea..it would awesome to have, or at least pictured in my head it looks pretty sweet, i have tons of ideas with the scaping for it..

should i do this..it wont be a problem upgrading it when the time comes, but just want an ok from some experts..i know that it will be in extremely good care, just if the tank size is ok, and will be created to the eel exact specs..

come on steve gimme the ok..

I've had a small snowflake in a 30 gal before. about a month later, he jumped. :( make sure that even the smallest of openings are covered. feed with large tweezers if possible; they deliver quite a bite. here's a link: Saltwater Aquarium Fish for Marine Aquariums: Snowflake Eel

not sure how large the egg crate openings are. but mine was 9" and about as thin as a pencil. whatever the head fits through, the body will IME.

yeah the white eggcrate squares are larger than a pencil diameter..i can use the stock hood

honestly is this a good idea..is it going to be more trouble than being able to enjoy the tank..

it sounds so good in my head and not sure in reality..just i over think everything..kinda a bad habit
