Happy Monday! I have a few new things to report. You may have seen a thread I started this weekend regarding my Bannerfish. The larger of the pair (Lenny) became aggressive to the point that I decided to take action. Since there had been no signs of disease and they were eating well, I transferred them out of QT earlier than planned. I believe that the smaller fish (Denny) would have been bullied to death if I had done nothing. With more swimming space, they are getting along just fine. Thanks to Oldfishkeeper and Corrailine for their guidance in solving this problem. Much appreciated!

Now that my 76 g. QT is empty, it's time to order another Butterflyfish on my list. I'm going to keep an eye on Diver's Den this week and see what comes up.

Also, my Latticed Butterflyfish (no name yet) is doing well in my other QT tank. If it remains healthy, I will move it to the DT in 2 weeks.

    That's all for now!

Boy I am glad that worked out well. It's nice when something goes as planned, knock on wood.

Me too. I have learned to roll with the punches in this hobby, since things don't often go as planned. It does feel good when things work out (knock on wood again).

Last night I noticed a thin film on the sides of my Latticed Butterflyfish accompanied by some twitching. I suspect marine velvet. Checked on the fish this morning and observed same symptoms. Began Cupramine treatment in QT. Goal is to reach .2 ppm then will amp up to .4 over the next week. I hate dealing with these issues, but this is why we quarantine our fish.

Here's some positive karma to you! I really hope it's not velvet although velvet does spread and kill pretty quickly so hopefully it's not.

Thanks for the karma OFK. I'm not positive that its velvet either but it didn't look like ich (based on my experiences). I figured that it was better to treat it now since velvet kills so quickly.

I will be ordering my next two butterflyfish which will be quarantined in my 76 gal. I decided on a Spotband and an Auriga. I'm going to order from LiveAquaria this evening and they should arrive on Thursday. I was planning on ordering from Diver's Den but it seems like I could wait a while for any of the Butterflies on my list to come available. I have had good experiences with Bluezooaquatics but they don't carry Spotbands. Any opinions?

How is the butterfly doing? Have you considered iBluewater.com?

Thanks for asking. It looks good, but not eating well. Cupramine is currently at .3 ppm. I'll checkout iBluewater.com. Thanks for the tip!
