I just recently started growing pink algae in my tank. Just like all prior tanks of mine that grew pink algae, I started growing this speckled green algae too. It doesn't come off with my tank scrubber and my 200+ snails don't help any either. What is it and how can I fight it?[IMG][IMG][IMG]

Its just film algae. I think we all have that. A lot of times it gets to tough to take off with a magfloat and you have to scrape it with a razor. Most of us just accept having it and clean it regularly.

Ways to stop it or at least slow it down is having low nutrients on your water.

I don't scrape up to the silicone but take the razor and set it close to the silicone and pull. Most of the time it works well.

I use a kent scraper personally. Go slow and you can get to the edge of the silicon without problems.

I took a stiff bristle tooth brush, cut about half the length off of the bristles and use small circles. It comes off pretty easy.
