    All over the Charlotte area...and yes, harmless to the fact of "sick", but you still don't want to get bit by one.

    Find an ant or a moth or any bug of similar size and throw it into the web. The spider will bite it and spin it into a cocoon of silk then proceed to eat it (or save it for later depending ion the last time it ate).

    On another note, at dusk they like to build webs in narrow walkways and of course since you cant see them, you walk directly into a new web which can really freak you out so be careful!
