One decent sized rock in my tank is probably about 70 percent covered in this stuff (neomeris sp). Although it does look kind of cool, its starting to spread onto another rock that i have and i dont want it to take over. Whats the best way to get rid of it?

    Send it to me ;D

It usually doesn't do well in the aquarium and dies off. I've read a couple of stories like yours but those ppl wanted it and were happy it was thriving.

I would say that it would be battled like any other algaes. Starve it of light and excess nutrients. If you want to keep it isolated you'll have to work at manually removing it from where it spreads to. Sorry I'm not much help but I've never read of anyone trying to get rid of it.

No idea what size your tank is or what livestock you have, but I've heard tangs like it.

no good. its spread to all my rocks, my hermits wont touch it, and i have a 28 gallon tank so tangs are out. one thing ive thought of, would a coral that needs alot of calcium be beneficial to get because it would take it from the spindle weed, or would the coral just end up dying?

90% of corals use calcium to grow... as far as aglae goes...u need to get your water super clean, a majority of algae feeds off nutrient rich water... the only that really doesnt feed off dirty water is Coraline, and thats because its a calcifying algae..
