I just bought this piece of rock with Zoas and green star polyps on it at my LFS. After observing it in my tank for a bit I noticed these spiny tentacle looking things coming out of small holes in the rock. There are about 4 or 5 of them, and it looks like they are reaching around to the outside world searching for food. It's almost like there is a monster hiding inside the rock and those are his arms coming out  I was thinking they might be small eels but after looking at the close up I'm not too sure. Thanks for your help ;D

+1 Macro Brittle star they aren't fond of light but keep arms out to catch food during the day. At night they crawl everywhere but being tiny they are harder to see.

Very nice pics BTW please share your information on the capture. camera, speed etc.

Thank you for the speedy replies guys! Ok, so it looks like we have a positive ID. I actually don't see him there anymore, so maybe he's just crawling around, hiding underneath another rock for now.

Thank you MountainMan! The pics were taken with a Nikon D80 and a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens set on manual mode.
