best way to describe it is a flesh colored work that was really fast but it was swimming in the water column very quickly with a spiraling movement to proppel its self. It was basically just twisting around really fast and was bumping into walls n such. it was about an hour and half after my lights went out. any ideas?? and sorry no pics

I've seen that before. Someone once reported that that was some phase of a bristleworm.

Yep...it's an epitoke. It will explode sending gametes into the water column.

Gametes are a reproductive cell, a way of reproducing. Like sperm. Sorry been a real long time since I had biology, I know that's close, but maybe somebody can confirm or correct me.

So I guess what I'm really saying, is BUMP....

I once took a cup or so of beach sand home to check if it was aragonite. I placed about a tablespoon in a dish with a quarter cup of vinegar. I remember seeing thousands of the things you describe just twirling like mad in the water. They'd be way too small to photograph, not to mention they're moving so fast!

That sounds right. Gametes are reproductive cells just like sperm or egg cells. They're created by meiosis rather than mitosis if memory serves. Normal cells like bone or skin reproduce by mitosis. Gamete are the only cells that combine by fission to create a new organism, just like a sperm and egg cell in us humans.
